NC Aquarium Outreach Truck Wrap
The Outreach department of the NC Aquarium requested a new vinyl wrap for their transport truck. They prefer an eyecatching, cozy, exciting, and communal feeling when the viewer sees the wrap. They want a simplified but outstanding piece of advertising to highlight the beautiful experiences the aquarium has to offer- even while out of the aquarium. This outreach truck travels to schools, community events, and other venues for hands-on animal experience outside the aquarium.

The design for this Outreach Truck wrap was created using Autodesk 3D Max. The process started by first recreating the inside of a cargo truck. I used photoshop to make the metal walls, rails, and seams and applied the materials to the walls of the truck. I molded the shelves and aquarium tank. I also created a wave effect to make it appear as if the water has sloshed by the moving truck. The sand on the bottom was molded to have dunes and applied with a texture I created with 3D maps.
I used V-Ray render software to get the realism I was looking for in this project. I also altered the materials to catch the reflections and reflections of the photometric lights. The water was the most fun and challenging material to create in this design.

After the first image was rendered the decision was made to make each side of the truck slightly different as if you were seeing the other side after the animals had moved a bit. It helped to adjust the animals as the balance of each side was established by the placement of each element.

The lighting was selected to bring out the waves as well as create a cozy environment. The shadows allow the viewer to feel as if they are inside the truck with their animal pals These views were rendered many times to nail down the feel perfectly.
These images were taken two weeks after the vinyl installation. The final composition was created composted in Photoshop adding a logo with a frosted appearance and a sign on the side of the truck wall that advertizes the Aquarium Outreach and their phone number.
