NC Aquarium Weddings Campaign

Utilizing grant funding from the NC Tourism Authority, the Special Events department at the NC Aquarium wanted to create a brand for their wedding rentals. The brand would be used to promote rentals of the Aquarium through print ads in regional periodicals, digital ads for social media, rental signs at the aquarium, and billboards across NC. The client wanted to convey serenity and calm, with a bit of excitement and curiosity. The client also wanted to highlight the scenery and/ or an animal in each design. The imagery was provided by the client.
In all instances, I wanted the imagery of the ad to speak for itself with very little information given- depending upon the media used. For the billboards, I chose to use the “Weddings” brand, the venue logo, and a very short catchphrase. Each design consists of more than 5 images composted into the final design. All three billboards were designed at 52’ x 15’ and needed adjustments for each location. They were installed in nine locations across eastern NC, the third billboard was also installed on a digital location as well on the Morehead City causeway on the route to the Aquarium.

This rental sign is 36” x 50” and was printed on laminated gloss vinyl and wrapped over Sentra and then screwed onto the frame. This design was created by taking out several imperfections and fish in the main image, as well as feathering the edges to black. I employed the use of color correction on the secondary images.

This 7.25” x 10” ad was printed in The Globe magazine, specifically targeting military personnel. I extracted the couple and decking, taking out a canopy, and composted in the sky and the reflections on the water. I employed the use of color correction on the secondary images.

This GIF ad above was published on Facebook and Google, tagged to searches about eastern NC wedding venues. This GIF is 9 seconds long opening with a 1-sec image fade-in. The Weddings brand is centered and ripples in as water writing. The Aquarium logo fish finishes the motion graphic scaling in as the dot of the “i”. To finish off the action, the top venue logo fades in with a slight pause before the phone number and web address fades in.
